Valentine Imperial Maya resort wasn’t a random choice when it came up to the vacation in Cancun. It was strongly recommended by a friend of mine who had travelled to Cancun a couple of times before and knew the area quite well. And we weren’t disappointed.

VIM is a big property stretching along one of the best beaches in Riviera Maya – the Secret Beach (Playa Del Sectreto). It’s big, but not a mega resort with a plain dull architecture, so it gives you a more intimate feeling of a boutique hotel with pretty Spanish like hacienda villas, yet with all the amenities that come with a mega hotel.  Walk around the grounds, and you’ll be impressed with the grand lobby, mural paintings depicting scenes from medieval era, lush greenery of surrounding landscape and jungles, especially in a rainy season.

Snap some pictures of iguanas lounging in the sunshine on the rocks all over the place. These iguanas may become one of the selling points for wild life admirers willing to stay at VIM. If you’re up early, you can run over local single males roaming in sandy jungles, and estranged from the families by mamas. Those of them who are more resourceful try to get on all-inclusive meal plans, but not all of them are lucky. In the meantime, mamas take their babies for forging to the more central areas of the resort with better choices for the natural local food. These are coaties, and you can adore them at a distance while they’re busy catching tiny lizards or bugs in the grass.

In the afternoon, take a stroll along the palapa-covered pathways to a little jewelry or souvenir store close to the main lobby, or get a refreshing drink at the bars that offer more than 50 types of liquor including some top shelf options.

The two mega swimming pools are a floating party place. This area stays busy all day long until the sunset. So, if you need some energy, boose or entertainment, this is the place to be! Two bars, floats, laughs, photographers, music and an entertainment crew – it keeps going on from morning to sunset.

This resort is so airy, full of sun light; it’s absolutely gorgeous! It’s impossible not to adore it. And there is so much more to enjoy. As we were told by a concierge, the resort was open right before the Valentine’s Day, and maybe this is where the name originates from. It may or may not be true, but sounds quite romantic.  So, stay tuned for more pictures to come.
